Located about 50 miles east of Queens in Shirley, New York – Long Island Skydiving Center is the most popular skydiving destination for Queens residents and the best skydiving in New York since 2003! Our unique location offers a great opportunity for guests to experience New York from a whole new angle while being surrounded by the beautiful Hampton Beaches, the Atlantic Coastline, and Fire Island National Seashore. We are the only skydiving center in the Queens area that is easily accessible by subway, or by using the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR).

Skydiving NYC can be a bit tricky due to the lack of airspace that is required for skydiving. Because of this, there are only three primary skydiving centers in the Queens area: Long Island Skydiving Center (Shirley, NY), Skydive Sussex (Sussex, NJ), and Skydive the Ranch (Gardiner, NY).

Our skydiving center is about an hour drive from Queens and a straight shot via I-495 E.
- Get on Grand Central Pkwy from Utopia Pkwy (5 minutes)
- Take Northern State Pkwy and I-495 E to Express Dr S in Yaphank. Take exit 68 from I-495 E (52 minutes)
- Take County Rd 46 S/William Floyd Pkwy to Maple Ave in Shirley (6 minutes)

WHAT TO EXPECT
When you book a tandem skydive with Long Island Skydiving Center, you can expect to embark on one of life’s greatest journeys. Here’s a breakdown of what to expect from start to finish:
- Booking Your Skydive
Skydiving reservations for solo jumpers or groups can be booked online in advance to save some money, or purchased onsite.
- Classroom Training
Once you arrive at the dropzone, you’ll watch a short training video and go over everything you’ll need to know for your tandem skydive.
- Airplane Ride to Altitude
The airplane ride itself will take about 10 minutes as we climb to 8,000 – 10,000 feet. Take in the stunning views of the glittering Atlantic Coastline.
- Exiting the Aircraft
The moment you’ve been waiting for! When it’s your turn to jump, you’ll exit the aircraft securely attached to your tandem instructor.
- Freefall
Within a few seconds, you’ll reach terminal velocity at around 120 mph and experience the rush of a lifetime!
- Parachute Ride
At around 5,000 feet, your instructor will deploy the parachute. You’ll enjoy a 5 minute parachute ride back down to the earth and relish in this awe-inspiring moment.
- The Landing
With your instructor’s guidance, you’ll land back on solid ground and celebrate your amazing accomplishment – you did it!
